BAGGU X MAFIA
We've partnered with Baggu to make their iconic Standard Baggu out of sails. Our most affordable bag ever is a new essential: still unique, built to last. All cut and sewn in California
ADAM SAVAGE x MAFIA:
MAFIA and Adam Savage are a perfect match. Adam has spent his life learning to take what's in his brain and make it real, and MAFIA continues to explore the limits of material possibility. Our first bag together is a NASA-inspired everyday carry that joins space and sails in striking harmony.
Here's Adam on the basics of the EDC One:
“I kept it simple, focusing on access to contents and durability. The color is chosen because I love NASA, but more importantly because all other tool bags are dark and that is wrong: I’ve spent too long not being able to find things at the bottom of my toolbags. This ends now.” So far the response has been fantastic (check out the review on Wired), and we're just getting started. Look for more Savage x Mafia products soon.

DEEP BLUE BAG
For a whole year we worked with designer Yves Behar on the Deep Blue bag for Sustainable Surf. This is our first ever bag designed especially for surfers. We don't usually do technical bags, so it was a really interesting challenge to come up with something that would be both sport-specific and versatile.
Yves was the ideal partner for this: he's a renowned industrial designer as well as a dedicated surfer. When we gave him materials to play with, he re-interpreted them in unexpected ways. Sails, climbing ropes, and drysuit seals are incorporated into a backpack that perfectly balances the technical and the aesthetic.
PATAGONIA x MAFIA:
Mafia is more than just bags. We rethink materials and give them new life. This time we partnered with Patagonia to up-cycle retired jackets and make a unique Apron for Patagonia Provisions. Designed and manufactured in San Francisco, this apron is made out of 100% up-cycled materials: Climbing ropes salvaged from Yosemite, sails collected in San Francisco Bay Area, pockets cut from retired Patagonia jackets.
"With Patagonia Provisions, our goals are the same as with everything we do: We aim to make the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, and perhaps most important, inspire solutions to the environmental crisis." - Yvon Chouinard

ONEWHEEL x MAFIA:
Designed and made in MAFIA's San Francisco design studio, the slingpack is sewn from re-used sails, the handles are made of up-cycled wetsuit neoprene and everything is hand sewn with love. Color details are subject to change based on sails available.
An amazingly durable, functional and beautiful bag.
O+A DESIGN x MAFIA:
We are always excited to find new ways to look at familiar materials. In this project with O+A Design, we developed an experimental vest + pillow using upcycled nylon spinnaker and kevlar laminate sails. We use these sails for bags all the time, and it was really fun to see them transformed by a new concept. What came out is a vision of the modern California nomad that is equal parts future and fairy tale.
We think it's pretty cool and hope you do, too. Please enjoy these photos or check it out in person at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, April 4-7.
SHOTWELL PAPER MILL
There is a better source for the paper we use everyday. We are currently partnering with Shotwell Paper Mill: they make paper from old rags, locally grown plant fibers, and other organic materials that would otherwise be headed for the waste stream. Like the sails we use for our bags, this handmade paper is rich with history and meaning.
SUPKIDS x MAFIA:
We designed a new backpack in collaboration with Sustainable Surf for SUPKids , a program created to teach kids around the world Stand-up Paddle Surfing, water safety & environmental awareness.
We know what it’s like to fall in love with being in the ocean. And we know that, with a passion for SUP comes a responsibility to take care of our environment. The vision is to create experiences for our SUPKids that will enhance their appreciation, respect & understanding for sustainable living.
SPERRY x MAFIA:
Mafia Bags recently collaborated with Sperry, the historic and iconic brand known for the invention of the world’s first boat shoe, to create a unique run of limited edition Mafia Bags.
As two brands with a love of the ocean and sea-based adventure at their core, the Sperry and Mafia team reinvented the classic sailing duffle with upcycled sails and a dynamic new design. The bags in the Sperry x Mafia collection can be used as an adventure-ready backpack or as a duffel bag for worldwide travel. The bag features waterproof zippers, an expandable roll-top for extra space when needed, and a separate pocket to take your Sperry shoes on new adventures.

VANS x MAFIA:
The Collaboration Story
Imagine the perfect collaboration. A company known around the world, reducing their impact by teaming up with a small company invested in minimizing our ecological impact. The product of this partnership is a unique, one of a kind piece of art which allows the legacy of the 2014 Vans U.S. Open to live on.
Vans and Mafia reused last year's 2014 Vans US Open of Surfing banners to create an upcycled tote bag.
